2012 upcoming Art shows!

Hello Friends and Art Lovers,

I wanted to bring you up to date on all the fantastic art shows that are fast approaching.

Tonight you are cordially invited to the opening of our Second Annual Foray Exhibition on Friday, April 27th from 5 pm till 8 pm in the offices of Boise State Public Radio at 220 E. Parkcenter Blvd. in Boise. Click here for a map.
Visitors and patrons will see the work of 60 local artists and most of them will be on hand Friday night. You'll know them by their name tags which feature an image of their Foray artwork. We've reserved the whole parking lot in front of the Yanke Building so that you don't need to worry about paying for parking.  The show will be up through July 26.  The hours for the gallery during the week are Monday through Friday 9 to 5 pm.

The Modern Hotel Art Show on May 3rd from 5-10:00pm is an exciting show where artists create an installation in a hotel room.  I will be in room 236 and the theme for my room will be "Nostalgic Journey".  The installation will consisted of paper doll dresses made from porcelain with paper lithography printed images on them.  Come experience art at its wildest at this once a year event.

Boise State University Art Department's ‘Clay & Fire’ Sale, May  5-7, 2011

The Boise State University Department of Art will present their bi-annual Clay & Fire exhibition and sale from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.  May 5 - 7 in the Liberal Arts Building, Visual Arts Center Gallery 1. Admission is free.

Held each semester for nearly 40 years, Boise State’s Clay and Fire sale has become a tradition for many in the Treasure Valley. It features hundreds of original ceramic pieces, ranging from elegant to exotic, made by Boise State students, faculty and alumni. Items fresh from the kiln may be available daily, so the public is invited to shop often.

I will be teaching a night class at BSU through Continuing Education in the Fall Semester.  We will be hand-building, throwing on the wheel, exploration in learning various methods for making handles.  Learn Techniques for printing on clay through paper lithography and exploration in glazing.  This class is the perfect opportunity to explore the versatile world of clay and will be tailored to fit your interests.  Look for more information this summer.

The month of May look for me in a television commercial for FireWise.  The commercial will be running state wide and will show me and some of my art for about 30 seconds so don't blink!

Art and Roses one day art show will be on June 3rd from 10-6:00 in Julia Davis Park by BAM.  This is a fun locals only art show.  Come on out and enjoy music, roses and great art.

I will be teaching for my third summer at Camp Perkins Art Camp in the beautiful awe inspiring Sawtooth Mountains with painter Robert Moore.  We dig our own clay, throw on the wheel, hand-build and pit fire with buffalo dung.  The dates are July 15-20.  For more information please visit campperkins.org.

The Idaho City Co-op Gallery will be open starting Memorial Day weekend through the end of September.  We are open Friday through Sunday from 11-4.  We are located in a white historical home with a white picket fence at 309 Montgomery street.  There is wonderful local art for sale and it is definitely worth the drive through the mountain scenery to come for the day and play.

BOSCO (Boise Open Studio Collective Organization) will have open studios again in October on the 13th and 14th.  We will be having a preview night at BAM on the First Thursday in October.

I still have a website at angelakn.com where you can sign up for my sporadic blog.

I hope this day finds you well, inspired and soaking in the Vitamin D!

Open Studio 2011

Hello Fellow Artists and Art Lovers,

I wanted to let you all know that this coming First Thursday October 6th, BOSCO (Boise Open Studio Collective Organization)  will have a reception at the Boise Art Museum from 5-9.  There are 29 local artists who will have their work displayed and will be opening their studios to the public the next weekend.  There will be an insert in The Boise Weekly with maps to guide you to each artist's studio.

I will be opening my studio to the public on Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th from 12:00 to 6:00 each day.

Come to the crisp Fall mountains up highway 21 to Wilderness Ranch (after milepost number 23) .  I will have my usual 10 bright yellow signs pointing the way up the mountain to my studio in my log home.

I will have refreshments...some amazing chocolate chip cookies, apple cider and wonderful art.  I included some images from a past open studio.  Also you might catch a glimpse of the Big Bull Elk that has been hanging around our home.

Hope to see you here!  It is well worth the drive and will be an experience you will not forget!
